Well done to Alexandra Karavias who completed the London Marathon in memory of her father Demetrios Karavias to raise money for the Cypriot Community Day Centre in Wood Green

Well done to Alexandra Karavias. who  ran and completed the London Marathon in memory of her father Demetrios Karavias Fterikoudi in Pitsilia, Cyprus  who used to attend the Cypriot Community Day Centre in Wood Green  before he passed away. All money raised she will be donating to the Day Centre and I think it stands at over £1000 now!

Alexander run the London Marathon on Sunday 2nd October 2022, in memory of her wonderful dad, Demetrios Karavias who passed away on Christmas Day 2021.

In the year that lead up to his passing he accessed fantastic support and care from The Cypriot Community Centre in Wood Green, which supports disabled young adults and elderly residents of all backgrounds. They offer a wide range of holistic activities designed to support physical, emotional and mental health needs. They also offer a hot home cooked meal and transport to ensure those who may otherwise struggle to get there can access the support.

Her Dad loved his time spent at the Cypriot Community Centre, and would come home excited to share what he had done that day and boasting about being the undefeated Tavli champion! He talked about all the friends he made there, which included some of the brilliant staff too.

Alexandra said “As well as providing important care and support to adults with disabilities, the day centre offers carers much needed respite from their caring roles, which I know my family really appreciated.

So it felt right that I chose this cause to support, because it made his last year that little bit brighter.

If anyone is able to donate to support this wonderful centre, I would really appreciate it”.
