Maria Constantinou, UConn (Nicosia, Cyprus) Maria Constantinou enjoyed a perfect 3-0 week from the top spot, highlighted by a pair of victories over BIG EAST competitors. The sophomore defeated Sacred Heart’s Katsiaryna Starastsenka (6-3, 6-2) on Wednesday before conquering Villanova’s Emma Brogan (6-4, 6-2) and Georgetown’s Avantika Willy (6-2, 1-6, 6-2) over the weekend.

The next time Constantinou hits the court will be on Friday, April 7 against Xavier in Cincinatti, Ohio at 1 p.m.
2022-23 (Sophomore season): In the fall for her first year at UConn after transferring from Delaware, Constantinou put up excellent performances at the Quinnipiac Invite and the UConn Invitational as she swept in both singles and doubles play while competing in 11 total matches in both tournaments.

Before UConn: Constantinou transfered to UConn after spending last season at Delaware…She joined the Blue Hens for the spring semester and played to an unbeaten 10-0 singles mark and a 5-0 doubles record…She finished 5-0 playing at No. 5 singles and 4-0 in the No. 6 position…Prior to attending Delaware, Constantinou attended The English School Nicosia from 2015-2022…She represented Cyprus at all junior events between the ages of 12 and 18 and became a member of the Cyprus Fed Cup team in 2019. She set a career high with an ITF Junior Ranking of 625 in the summer of 2021, going 19-12 in ITF doubles matches during 2021 that included 11 wins on clay surfaces…She was named a two-time winner of Inter-School Tennis Tournament during her time in high school and also earned varsity letters for her participation in shot put.
