UK Cypriot solicitor Lucy Loizou invited to speak in Parliament

What a privilege it was for UK Cypriot Lucy Loizou to be invited to speak in Parliament last night with my wonderful colleagues. We talked about family law and the challenges facing international families. A true career highlight.

Lucy is a Partner at The International Family Law Group LLP. She became Managing Partner in August 2021.

Lucy handles complex financial cases relating to divorce and separation and has worked on a number of matters involving high net worth assets often including an international element. She has particular expertise in dealing with difficult trust and corporate assets and in cases concerning financial provision for children under Schedule 1 Children Act 1989.

Lucy regularly writes for various legal journals on topical aspects of family law: Family Law Week LexisNexis. She also writes a monthly family law column in Parikiaki newspaper for the Greek and Cypriot communities.

She frequently lectures to family lawyers about family law issues both nationally and internationally, for a number of national organisations and at professional conferences.

For the past 12 years Lucy presented her own fortnightly radio show on London Greek Radio fielding questions from listeners on family related issues. Lucy is much in demand as an advisor to the Greek and Cypriot community and is known as the ‘go to’ family lawyer for Greek and Cypriot families. She has set up an Anglo/Greek association as a forum for  specialist lawyers in Greece and Cyprus to forging links and as a means of updating practitioners on topical isssues in international family law with particular reference to Greece and Cyprus.

Lucy formed and chaired Young Resolution for several years prior to creating National Young Resolution, which today is a flourishing association for young family lawyers. Lucy served as an elected member of Resolution’s National Committee  for 6 years.

Lucy was nominated for ‘Woman of the Year’ in the Women in Law Awards 2020.
