The legacy of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll is kept alive with The Elvis Years, a show which tells the incredible story of how a poor boy from Tupelo, Mississippi went on to become the greatest musical icon the world has seen.
Starring UK Cypriot Mario Kombou, who has been performing as Elvis for over 20 years, the production portrays the most iconic moments of the legendary singer’s career and sets the scene of the different musical and social eras, taking the audience right back in time.
The energetic show came to Enfield’s Millfield Theatre last Thursday (20 October).
With a fantastic cast, authentic costumes and nostalgic film footage, it features more than 50 of the King’s greatest hits including That’s Alright Mama, Rock A Hula Baby, Blue Suede Shoes, It’s Now or Never, The Wonder Of You, Suspicious Minds, American Trilogy, Return To Sender, Viva Las Vegas, Jailhouse Rock, In The Ghetto, Can’t Help Falling In Love and many more, as it journeys through the highs and lows of Elvis’ life including his first legendary Sun session, the Grand Ole Opry and Louisiana Hayride, the death of his beloved mother, his time in the army, the Hollywood movie years, the ‘68 Comeback Special, and the incomparable Las Vegas concerts.
Mario is incredible in bringing Elvis to the stage; the voice, the wardrobe, the humour, the swagger, it was all there! And there were great moments where he interacted with the audience, handing out replica Elvis scarves to frenzied female fans!
If you loved the Baz Luhrmann film Elvis, and the King himself, then The Elvis Years is a concert not to be missed. The show is currently on tour around the country. Visit https://theelvisyears.com/show for further details.
