UK Cypriot footballer Jason Demetriou was honoured by the Cyprus Football Association when he was honoured for his services to Cypriot Football by the President of the Cyprus Football Association George Koumas before the UEFA international match between Cyprus versus Northern Ireland.
Jason represented Cyprus 51 times from 2009 to 2020 many times as a captain. Jason Demetriou started his football career with Leyton Orient where he came through the ranks and made 144 first team appearances and then he made the move to Cyprus and joined AEK for two years then Anorthosis for three years and a great international career ahead of him.
He returned to the UK and played for Walsall for a year and then a move to Southend FC where he played for five years and a term as a interim player manager.
