North London singer and songwriter Izzi De-Rosa represents more than just a pop star with a unique voice. Self-described, her music is all part of an ‘attitude’.
Tik-toks go viral overnight and Instagram followers climb by the day – two platforms where she encourages her audience to simply own their energy. A pop princess bringing back the iconic spirit of the 2000s, Izzi’s musical inspirations are Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Sugarbabes, Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne and Pink, to name a few.
Izzi spoke to Parikiaki about her love for music…
When did your interest with music begin?
Music was something that was literally embedded into my childhood. I was always obsessed with watching MTV and idolised the music videos and popstars on screen. However, I’d say my real interest in becoming an artist myself developed when I first started learning the guitar and writing music when I was about 13 years old. I properly pursued this after University, where I gained experience writing and performing with other musicians.
Who do you admire and who inspires you in the music industry?
My biggest influences are many of the female pop artists of the early 2000s such as Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani – to name just a few! Pop music back then was so iconic – the choreography, the videos, the outfits!! I live for it and that is something I am hoping to bring into my music.
When can we expect to hear your music?
I released my debut single ‘Love & Roulette’ on 26th March!! It’s been a super exciting release and the video was released just last weekend!
Has the pandemic affected any future plans?
I feel very lucky because I have been able to achieve quite a lot during this uncertain time. I guess the main thing is that I won’t be able to do a huge tour anytime soon, but I am seeing the silver lining in that this means I have more time to write some amazing songs!
