UK Cypriot former Fulham forward George Georgiou takes over as manager at Colney Heath

Colney Heath have gone for a former Fulham forward to fill their vacant manager’s post.

UK Cypriot George Georgiou played for the Cottagers as a youngster before spending time at various clubs in the non-league scene.

He then moved into coaching, managing New Salamis as they began their climb up the pyramid, and that helped get his application to join the Magpies, as replacement to Ant Burns, top of the pile.

The club said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of George Georgiou as our new first-team manager.

“George brings a wealth of football knowledge and experience.

“[He played] professional football for Fulham and Leyton Orient, as well as King’s Lynn, Dagenham & Redbridge and six years in Cyprus.

“He stlll holds the record of highest goal scorer at Thurrock/Purfleet with 109 goals in 206 games.

“George has coached and managed for over 13 years and is very experienced at this level.

“He brings everything required to move the club forward.”
