UK Cypriot Kyriacoulla (Koulla) Degirmenci has been appointed as a Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber
Kyriacoulla (Koulla) Degirmenci is a barrister, specialising in Immigration, Asylum and Human Rights Law, with a particular interest in judicial review. Koulla was born in Islington, London, the youngest of four children, to Greek Cypriot parents, Photou (Patriki) and Christos (Flamoudhi). She attended Grafton Primary School and Acland Burghley Secondary School. At age 11, Koulla decided she wanted to become a barrister after watching episodes of Crown Court. She studied Law at Sussex University and then completed her Bar exams at the Inns of Court School of Law. Koulla has also taught Law and has worked as an Immigration Supervisor for a charity.
Koulla lives in Hertfordshire with her husband, three sons and their dog, Apollo. Koulla loves spending time with her family, cooking, reading and walking.
