Introducing Dimitri Melaisi who has taken the major step of starting his own business.
I studied at the University of Greenwich and obtained a degree in Building Surveying. When leaving University, my thought was that I wanted to learn all aspects of the property industry as well as the understanding of surveying.
I always wanted to eventually have my own company and the only way I was going to do this was to have a full understanding of the property world and the key areas.
I got a job as a trainee sales negotiator in Muswell Hill were I learnt Residential Sales. This was a great learning tool for me as it taught me not only how the sales process works but most importantly the ability to communicate with clients. In my first month I billed the most for a trainee and was promoted to Senior agent.
Having grasped a key understanding of the sales side, I then went into Residential management. Again, I was employed on an assistant basis and within 6 months was then promoted to Senior Management where I handled a portfolio of 120 properties.
I was then head hunted by a reputable company in the West End to come in and manage the residential portfolio they had on there books. This was a brief time in management as an opportunity in Commercial leasing became available and I took it.
I worked as a commercial agent in the West End for 4 years. this was a great experience as it put me in a completely different world as I was dealing with reputable brands and companies and was involved in leasing Offices and retail units to brands and companies you hear of everyday.
I was then head hunted by Jon Christopher Surveyors. Having had great exposure to the commercial world, I was brought in to Asset Manage 2 commercial offices blocks in the West End whilst simultaneously heading the commercial leasing department.
Due to covid, I unfortunately had to part ways and whilst setting up a company in a time of uncertainty I wanted to take the leap. I was already working from home during the first lockdown and thought ‘’im going to do it’’.
I therefore set up Lanten Assets Ltd. My focus for the company was to provide a service for both Landlord and Tenant which is where the name came from Lan(lord) Ten(ant).
The areas we cover range from Residential and Commercial Leasing, Asset and Block Management.
