The Cypriot League has created a lot of interest with the playoffs underway starting on Friday night with Apollon beating AEK 2-0 that leaves them in third place below leaders Omonia and second placed AEK after the weekend results in the Championship playoffs.,
The Apollon goals came from Nicolas Diguiny in the first half and Begally Dabo early in the second half.
Omonia claimed an important away win over Limassol team AEL in this top of the table clash, the home team AEL took the lead through a spectacular half volley inside the box from Andre Texeira as early as the fourth minute. I
Omonia equalised when their young talent Loizos Loizou scored in the 24th minute with a great individual goal when he by passed one player then striking the ball into the right hand corner of the net. Marko Sepovic scored the second goal for Omonia from the penalty spot after an AEL player handballed the ball on the goal line in the first half added time which turned out to be the winning goal and leaves Omonia top of the table on 63 points followed by
AEL and Apollon on 59 points.
There was a melee of confusion and a scuffle in added time when the game was almost finished when two players when one from each side was sent off
Olympiakos beat Anorthosis 2-0 with their goals coming from Fabrice Kah in the eight minute and Kingsley Sarfo in added time.
In the Relegation play offs Doxa beat Pafos 1-0 with a late goal from Roman Golobart in the 88th minute. Ethnikos Achna beat New Salamis 2-0 with their goals coming from Elyssee Zakpa in the 44th minute and Idir Ouall in the 68th minute.
Ermis Aradippou beat Paralimni 1-0 with a goal from Roushias.
