Australian Cypriot Andrea Michaels is appointed as a minister in new Australian Government

Andrea Michaels is the State Member of Parliament for the seat of Enfield. The Enfield electorate covers 11 suburbs: Blair Athol, Broadview, Clearview, Enfield, Kilburn, Lightsview, Sefton Park, Northgate, Nailsworth (part), Northfield (part) and Prospect (part).

Andrea has been appointed as the Minister for Small and Family Business, Minister for Consumer and Business Affairs, Minister for Arts, as well as a Member of Executive Council for South Australia.

Ms Michaels will be sworn in at a later ceremony.

Andrea’s family from Eftakomi fled war-torn Cyprus in 1974, landing in South Australia in 1976 when she was just 11 months old. Andrea’s family arrived with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
