London Cypriot born George Sotiri is Running the 2023 London Marathon in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK
George lost his father to Alzheimer’s in November last year, and was inspired to not only raise funds to support future research of this devastating disease, but to do all that he can to raise awareness against this terrible disease within his local community.
Here is his story:
My dad, Andrew (son of George and Kyriacou Sotiri from Akanthou) was diagnosed with Alzeimers in 2014, he was only 57 years of age at the time of diagnosis..
Unfortunately he lost his battle with this devastating disease in November last year, at the age of 65.
I am running the 2023 London Marathon, not only to honour his memory, but to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
I know my dad would be proud of me for taking on this challenge and helping to make a difference in the fight against this devastating disease.
